To America's Veterans and Families

Your service and sacrifice to each other, family, friends, and country are not going unnoticed.

Your community wants you to know how much we appreciate your sacrifices.  We want to honor you today and always!
Helping you and continuing the legacy of the fallen is our mission.

Now we are working on PFC Jeremy Drexler's Pay A Good Deed Scholarship Fund at Washburn Institute of Technology.  We raised $5,000 and now need an additional $5,000 to make his scholarship self-funding year after year.
In the meantime, we contributed $500 to award Thomas Davie, Jeremy's 1st scholarship presented in April 2015.

...continue Jeremy's legacy of helping others.
This year we are focusing our fund raising efforts toward fully funding
PFC Jeremy Drexler's Pay A Good Deed Forward Scholarship.

Our goal is to establish a permanent scholarship in Jeremy's honor at the Washburn Institute of Technology in Topeka, KS.  It takes $10,000 to fully fund the scholarship.  This means, each year (and every year) the interest earned on the $!0,000 will provide at least $500 to a veteran attending Washburn.  A veteran who served our country will be able to use the money to help pay for their needs while learning a new skill.  Needs such as tools for learning diesel mechanic skills, or tools for carpentry, or medical supplies to become a nurse.

We already raised $5,000 and established the scholarship investment with Topeka Community Foundation,
but we need your help to raise $5,000 more dollars.

Thank you St Paul's Lutheran Church, Knox, PA; Blue Star Mother's Hanover PA Chapter; Wrestling Legends of Adams County, Gettysburg, PA for pushing us over the top of our goal of raising $10,000 to make Ross' scholarship self-funding year after year to help a veteran!
Thank you all who contributed!

Village to Village Foundation (V2V) established a scholarship for combat veterans serving in Iraq or Afghanistan (other combat war veterans considered) attending Butler County Community College, Butler County PA, near Ross's hometown Knox, PA.  The scholarship continues forever to pay Ross' good deed forward.  Each year, V2V and Butler County Community College awards $500 of interest earned on invested funds to veterans to help pay cost of living needs (e.g. babysitting, rent, utilities, etc.)

We reached our goal of raising $10,000 to make the scholarship self-sustaining forever!

Thank you to all who contributed.

Ross will not be forgotten!

We begin preparing for our 7th year of attending Memorial Day events in Washington, DC.  What an honor and privilege to be able to share Ross' and the other fallen veteran's stories to keep their legacy alive.

Each year we bring our tent, banners, Pay A Good Deed Forward tokens for Ross, Jeremy, Clint, Juan, Nathan and Matthew and enthusiasm.  The first year we had no idea what to expect.  No one on our board had ever done anything like what we set out to do.  We stood in front of strangers, told them Ross' story, and hoped we could help a veteran returning from home and let them know we cared about them.

Each year brought a different crowd with a different tone or message, but the people who took the time to come to our nation's capital shared similar feelings.  They shared love for our country, unending support for those who served, and a desire to help others.  I noticed the desire to help others was not based on political affiliation or whether the war was right or wrong.  It was based on a feeling of camaraderie, we are all in this together and together we can come to a better place if we work together.

My thoughts are similar, but I say it this way.  If I lift you up, I lift myself up.  Seems kind of selfish, but it works for me.  So, I feel blessed to come to Washington, DC each year, spread the stories about our fallen veterans, meet exceptional people, and walk away with a heart so filled it carries me to the next Memorial Day weekend.

A special thanks to Garrett and his sons Vincent and Aiden for paying forward Ross' good deed.  Thank you Amanda for sharing them with us.  Garrett, you are an exceptional person.  The pathway of life is not straight or easy, but it's how you learn, grow, and help others.  You know this to be true and my heart smiles thinking about your journey.

You have to reach for the stars to get to the tops of the trees!  The view is awesome!

Hello Villagers!

In Honor Of

Spc Ross A. McGinnis

The inspiration to create Village to Village Foundation came when the news of SPC Ross A McGinnis' (United States Army) heroic act was first heard of in December 2006. He is a young soldier who gave his life by using his body to cover a grenade; thereby saving four of his friends. Ross' unselfish and heroic action inspired the creation of this non-profit organization, to carry Ross' message forward. We are all in this together!
